Dexter, is an American Dramatic comedy based on the book series by
Jeff Lindsay. It revolves around a man named Dexter, who grew up all his life with sociopathic impulses. Dexter, who works as a bloodsplatter analyst with the Miami police department, is a part time serial killer who "uses his powers for good" and murders those who have slipped through the cracks of the justice system. Dexter is narrated in first person by the main character, and provides an often interesting (and in some cases humorous) view to the inside of a killer's mind. The show also uses flashbacks in almost every episode to show the relationship between Dexter and his foster father Harry. It is in these flashbacks that you see Dexter being taught the "Code of Harry", a set of rules his foster father set for dexter which included, who and who not to kill, how to not get caught (he was a cop), and hide his true self from everyone. Dexter has noted many times his "masks", his ability to fake emotions like love, compassion, and laughter. Although he is seen humanly interacting with characters in the series, he constantly reminds the viewer that he holds no affection for any of them, not even his foster sister Deborah (a cop), or Harry (although it is heavily implied) Then again, I've only seen six episodes of the first season so there might be hope after all for this righteous beast
